Sony en Microsoft hebben een reactie de wereld ingestuurd naar aanleiding van de uitspraak in de rechtszaak omtrent de moord op George Floyd, een zwarte Amerikaan die meer dan 8 minuten lang de knie van een agent in zijn nek geduwd kreeg en daardoor overleed. De (inmiddels ex-)agent in kwestie, Derek Chauvin, werd over de hele lijn door een jury schuldig bevonden aan de moord.
Omdat Sony en Microsoft zich, net als een hoop andere gamebedrijven trouwens, achter de Black Lives Matter beweging schaarden, laten ze nu weten tevreden te zijn met de uitspraak, die een nieuwe stap in de goede richting is voor een rechtvaardiger Amerika.

Our nation has a long journey ahead before it establishes the justice and equity that Black Americans deserve. The murder of George Floyd is a tragedy and a crime, and no jury can bring him back to life or reverse the pain and trauma experienced by his family and still felt across the country and around the world. Today’s verdict is a step forward in acknowledging painful truths and for the continued cause of defeating racism and fighting discrimination.
